Stage 6 - Warnemünde to Prerow
After an early breakfast yesterday, we treated ourselves to a later rise today, as Philipp needed a bit more sleep as he was starting to feel a bit ill and had a slight rattle in his lungs. We left our hotel, which is made of shipping containers. The Dock Inn also sponsored our overnight stay as part of the tour. We drove through the train station tunnel toward the harbor. The cruise ships had all left by then. Our first highlight was the ferry ride to Hohe Dühne. We took a quick cake break at a café on the pier in Graal-Müritz.
Philipp called his doctor again to make sure he could continue driving with his symptoms. He didn't want to let a cold drag on and make things worse. But there's no reason to panic – his doctor gave him the all-clear; as long as he doesn't have a fever and feels well, it's not a problem. Nevertheless, it's more reassuring for the three of us to have the whole thing checked out by a doctor.
Shortly before Dierhagen, Philipp received a WhatsApp message from Viko Getzschmann, a baker from Falkenberg, saying that he had a friend here who was also a master baker, and that we were welcome to visit if we appreciated good baked goods. The Boldt bakery branch was only 300 meters away, so we didn't have to think twice about it. We thanked him very much for the recommendation, as we would have missed something. In Ahrenshoop, we visited the Schifferkirche (Sailors' Church). Philipp was actually planning to play the organ there. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. Philipp had asked for the opportunity, but the organist got in touch too late, and the key was unfortunately too well hidden ;-)
A little later, we drove along the coast again, enjoying the view of the Baltic Sea. It became more shady in the Darß primeval forest, which also had its charm.
Today's overnight stay is sponsored by the Hotel and Restaurant Bernstein in Prerow, for which we are very grateful.
Tomorrow we'll be heading to Stralsund. So, stay tuned...
