Stage 7 - Bernburg to Halle (Saale) - 61.9 km

After breakfast at the hotel, we hopped on our bikes and headed towards Halle. We followed the Saale Cycle Path, which is really well signposted and well-maintained. Today's stage was a bit more strenuous than the others, as we had to tackle a climb of 390 meters. That may not sound like much, but after more than 60 kilometers, you can definitely feel it in your legs.

The bike path often ran directly along the Saale River, allowing us to enjoy beautiful views of the water as we clocked up our miles. Occasionally, the path led us through shady forests. Given the temperatures, this was very pleasant. However, it also had the disadvantage that the bumps in the road caused by tree roots were difficult to see. This caused Linda to wobble on her bike and fall. Uwe bandaged her foot, and then we bravely continued, as we still had 40 kilometers to go. A few scrapes and a sore foot remain as a memory for now.

The route took us through Wettin past the Wettin Monastery, and a few kilometers further on, we reached the Brachwitz ferry, where we covered more than half of today's route. Upon arriving in Halle, we fortified ourselves with a cool drink, and Philipp took the opportunity to refresh himself in the Saale River. Linda drew our traditional Herzenstour picture in the sand. Afterwards, we went to the market square to reward ourselves for today's stage with a delicious ice cream sundae. Now we're winding down the evening and preparing ourselves mentally and morally for our final Herzenstour stage, which is tomorrow. We can hardly believe the week has gone by so quickly again.

A heartfelt thank you today goes to the Hotel Ibis Styles Halle, which provided us with free accommodation, and to the restaurant Hans im Glück, which supported us with the catering.
