Stage 3 - Neuruppin to Havelberg - 70.1 km
After a hearty breakfast at the thermal baths, we saddled up our bikes and set off towards Havelberg. Since the weather was very good, we planned a stop at the lake in Wusterhausen. There were already many churches along the way, but unfortunately, many were closed. Arriving in Wusterhausen, we reached St. Peter and Paul Church, and it was open. Much to the delight of Philipp, who is interested in the organs inside. Unfortunately, access to the organ loft was blocked. However, there was a smaller organ in the neighboring church, and as a volunteer organist, Philipp knows the usual key hiding places. And what can we say? He found what he was looking for and thus had the opportunity to play his 118th organ. A little later, we rode to the aforementioned lake, where the lido is located, where we treated ourselves to a cool off. That felt very welcome in the warm temperatures. Philipp dared to jump from the 3-meter diving board, and then we fortified ourselves with a currywurst and fries before cycling the rest of the way to Havelberg. Due to two detours, the planned 62.5 kilometers turned into 70.1 kilometers today. By the time we arrived, our water bottles and even our reserve supplies were completely depleted, as it was very hot today.
We have now replenished our supply of drinks.
A heartfelt thank you today goes to the Wolf family, who supported us with a free vacation apartment. And another thank you to the Schmokenberg Restaurant, which provided us with dinner. This isn't something we take for granted, and it's always wonderful when people support our cause with such donations.
