Stage 6 - Wittenberg to Werdau (OT of Torgau) - 73.3 kilometers
Today's stage was a little different than usual, as we were accompanied by a television crew producing for the MDR program "Glaubwürdig." After breakfast, we were wired up to ensure our audio was "clean." Then, they filmed us loading our luggage.
Later, we filmed at various locations. They filmed us cycling, stopping for a break, and our view of the bike path. (For this purpose, a GoPro camera was attached to the handlebars, the panniers, or between the pedals.) Micha (camera), Christian (sound), and Mandy (production manager) accompanied us well throughout the day. It was a very harmonious collaboration. The team even thanked us for our patience. After about 40 kilometers, we took a break in Dommitzsch (Greudnitz district) at the "Zur Schah Mühle" restaurant. The restaurateur Steffi Tunger was kind enough to allow the team to film and liked our project so much that she even donated a small amount to us. We extend our sincere thanks for that! Feel free to stop by her place sometime. At the restaurant, we said goodbye to the TV crew, as all the pictures and sound had been collected, and that part was over for us. The team also donated a small amount to us.
During the discussions, we learned how it's like to work in or with a television crew and were amazed at how much logistical effort goes into each production, because you usually only see the end result.
Because of the filming day, we arrived much later than usual today and decided to first drive to Hartenfels Castle to see the bears again. Benno, Bea, and Jette currently live there, but today only Benno and Jette showed up.
Beatrix Dörge, owner of the restaurant "Herr Käthe," once again supported us with food, and as always, it was delicious. In the restaurant, a couple from Switzerland, who were sitting at the table next to us, approached us about our T-shirts and received a donation. These moments are especially wonderful and make us grateful for the opportunity to experience them.
Now it's time for us to say "good night" in Werdau, before the penultimate stage of the Herzenstour 2023 begins tomorrow.
