Stage 1 - Berlin to Oranienburg - 55.4 km
This morning we set off from Berlin on our leg to Oranienburg. After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, we took a short detour to the fire station fountain for Uwe's sake. We continued along the Wall Cycle Path, past Checkpoint Charlie, and later along the Havel River towards Oranienburg. The route was very idyllic. The break in the beer garden was also worthwhile, as our table neighbors gave us a donation. It's always worth striking up a conversation.
Today, we were also able to play a benefit concert in Oranienburg in support of the Herzenstour 2024. Linda gave an emotional speech about her previous cancer battle, which was accompanied musically by Uwe and Philipp with the song "Ich bin bei dir" (I'm with you). Linda accompanied us on the piano. Anyone who would like to experience this has the chance to do so at our concert in Tangermünde on August 13th. We would like to once again thank Cantor Markus Pfeiffer and the Protestant parish of Oranienburg for allowing us to be their guests. After the concert, we were interviewed by a Takeda employee, as the company also supports our Herzenstour.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the following people:
Markus Pfeiffer, Cantor, of the Protestant Church of Oranienburg: For the opportunity to organize a benefit concert
Oberhavel District: For covering the costs of our overnight stay
Tomorrow we're heading to Neuruppin, which we're really looking forward to.
