Stage 2 - Brandenburg an der Havel to Tangermünde - 62.1 kilometers

After a delicious breakfast, it was time to saddle up again. Before we set off, Uwe did a quick stretch to minimize the risk of cramps. Looks sporty, doesn't it? :-) We rode through Brandenburg's old town, and it wasn't long before we had a beautiful view of the Havel River. To ensure that ships can continue to pass, the fishing boats are lined up in rows on the left and right.
Along the way, we were able to find a few works of art, and Linda insisted on immortalizing our 2023 tour of the heart in the sand.
The bike paths were particularly idyllic today. After cycling a few kilometers along the Elbe-Havel Canal cycle path, we took a short lunch break in Genthin and fortified ourselves.
In Jerichow, we briefly visited the monastery, which, incidentally, is an outstanding example of brick Romanesque architecture and is one of the oldest of its kind in Northern Germany. Its artistic perfection holds a key position in Brandenburg's brick architecture. Shortly after entering the town, we took a photo of the Dutch windmill.
Construction work is currently taking place between Jerichow and Tangermünde, which is why there is a signposted detour. However, a local resident gave us the tip that you can push your bike 200 meters across the construction site and then continue on the regular Elbe Cycle Path. We followed this tip, and it saved us about a 5-kilometer detour.
After crossing the Elbe Bridge, we soon reached the beautiful town of Tangermünde, whose silhouette we could already see from the bike path. After checking in at the hotel, we rewarded ourselves with an ice cream sundae in town.
Tomorrow morning, Philipp will be able to try out the organ in the Tangermünde church and then the next stop will be Magdeburg.
