Stage 5 - Dessau to Wittenberg - 46.3 kilometers
Today, a shorter stage was on the agenda. After a delicious breakfast at the Lantzsch bakery, we cycled through an idyllic park. At first, it was quite chilly and foggy, but it wasn't long before the sun came out. Thanks to the many trees, we were able to ride in the shade most of the way. Shortly after Dessau, a woman on a bicycle approached us, asking what the Herzenstour (Tour of the Heart) was. We explained it to her and handed her a flyer.
Our route took us past Wörlitz Park. There, the man who had spoken to us yesterday at the Dessau Kartoffelhaus approached us again. He told us that he and his wife had cycled the Weser Cycle Route two years ago and even attended one of our concerts. When they saw our cycling shirts with the "Herzenstour" logo, they immediately knew: "Those are the three of them." As the saying goes, "You always meet twice in life."
Before we took the ferry to Coswig, a group of cyclists approached us, asking what the Herzenstour (Tour of the Heart) was. We explained again how our project works and why we do it every year. We received two donations and posed for two photos. We also gave them a flyer. The group commented that our tour was really well promoted (for those unfamiliar with the English term, this means we're doing a good job advertising the tour). We also told them that we're playing a concert at Elster Church today at 6 p.m.
In Coswig, we met a man who travels by bike in a very special way. He has his own bicycle caravan in the form of a trailer. We've never seen anything like it before and wanted to share it with you.
Even though today's stage was comparatively short, it was full of new experiences and showed us once again that the investment in cycling shirts with our own Herzenstour print was a complete success.
We played our benefit concert in Elster, where Uwe was able to demonstrate his guitar skills. We received repeated applause. We gave a few interviews for the camera crew that accompanied our concert today. The Herzenstour is being broadcast on the MDR program "Glaubwürdig."
Tomorrow we have 69 kilometers to Torgau on the agenda.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank you once again for all the donations we've received over the past few days. Anyone who would like to donate can do so via PayPal: paypal.me/Herzenstourprojekt or simply use the traditional bank transfer. Just check out the "Donations" page.
