Stage 8 - Final stage - Riesa to Dresden - 65 kilometers
It's hard to believe, but this is already the last blog entry of the 2023 Herzenstour (Tour of the Heart). We started this morning in Riesa and crossed the Elbe River twice today: by ferry in Niederlommatzsch and over the Waldschlösschen Bridge in Dresden to travel to Sonnenstrahl eV.
Our route took us through a wonderful landscape with the Elbe, the cliffs and the vineyards.
In Coswig we used the charming drinking water dispenser, which is a really great invention in this heat.
In Dresden today, we had the first flat tire of our Heart Tour story. Linda's bike probably took a hit on a cobblestone or something similar, which caused the air to go out. Luckily, Uwe had a puncture spray that you put in the tires. This at least allowed us to ride to the Sonnenstrahl eV (Sunbeam eV) on Goetheallee. There, Uwe and Philipp changed the front tire tube.
We discovered again that the Elbe Cycle Path's best dining options are on the section between Riesa and Dresden. However, since we wanted to reach Sonnenstrahl eV on time, we naturally didn't stop at every beer garden.
The sun was another test of our patience, but we always say, "The fight we're fighting is nothing compared to what the children in the pediatric cancer ward have to go through."
We thank you for the warm welcome to the Sonnenstrahl eV association
It was a matter close to our hearts to drive for you again.
We thank everyone who donated to our heartfelt project and once again actively supported us. We would also like to thank all the supporters of our tour. Without the many sponsors for accommodation and food, our heartfelt tour would not be possible. In this day and age, the helpfulness and warmth that we experienced every day on our tour can no longer be taken for granted.
It will be a few weeks before the donations are handed over. Just keep an eye on our social media channels. We'll let you know when the donations will be handed over. Donations are still welcome, of course.
